This spring’s edition of the storied Cannes Film Market will offer a long overdue documentary exploring the five-decade career of larger-than-life Swiss auctioneer and art advisor Simon de Pury. The new feature length film is titled “The Hammer”—which also happens to be the name of de Pury’s long-running Artnet News column . De Pury is no stranger to show business. The former Sotheby’s chairman–turned Phillips chief auctioneer has spent his life around celebrities. BBC Four made a mini-documentary about him, too, in 2010.
