Shepperton Studios is honoring Maggie Smith . The UK studio unveiled The Maggie Smith Stage in a private ceremony attended by the late Harry Potter and Downton Abbey actress’s close friends and family members, including her sons Toby Stephens and Christopher Larkin . Smith had a long association with Shepperton and its sister studio Pinewood, where she filmed the likes of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress and The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne (1987), which earned her the BAFTA for Best Actress. She also worked at the studios on Othello (1965), Clash of the Titans (1981), The Secret Garden (1993), and Gosford Park (2001). Known as one of Britain’s most-loved actresses, Smith passed away in 2024 aged 89 following a career that brought her two Oscars, five BAFTAs, four Emmys and a Tony Award.…
