CMV: Most financial issues people face in the western world are due to their own poor choices Americans ranked number 2 in consumer spending at 18.8 trillion that’s double the next closest and almost 10x that of many other high ranking countries. The sentiment is things are hard but the numbers always offer significant pushback. It seems the harder things get the more people spend and find a way to spend. Even car payments are now approximately 750 plus a month and everyone wants a large car, to me this signal people aren’t struggling as they say if they can justify a large car with nearly a rent/mortgage payment attached to it. This is more anecdotal but you can even go online and see a bunch of YouTube videos by Dave Ramsey and others, Reddit post and other countless examples regular people spending like they have 0 financial literacy. Being dead broke and buying expensive cars, taking trips, taking on debt, trying to get rich quick or just racking it up on credit cards.…
