In an ideal world, the Detroit Lions will hire a new team president who has both strong leadership skills and media saavy. Many fans of the team would also like the next hire to have some sort of football experience. Current team president Rod Wood, who is planning his retirement, told reporters at the owners meeting he is going to be involved in the hiring and onboarding process, when the position is officially filled. "We’ll start meeting with them probably in earnest in April, we’ll kind of go through the lay of the land. We’ll do some initial screening of candidates," said Wood," via the team's social media channel. "And then probably have a full interview panel with a few, including me and (owner) Sheila (Ford Hamp), Chris Spielman. “And I think Bill Ford is going to get involved, and Lindsay Verstegen, our chief people officer. At the very end, I want to give Brad (Holmes) and Dan (Campbell) a chance to weigh in on the process and the person," Wood added.…
