Studio Gutow refreshed the family beach home with floor-to-ceiling paneling and a speakeasy for date nights The living room of Studio Gutow co-founder, Melissa Rohani's Laguna Beach home she shares with her family. “This is the room you walk into when you come into the home, so it really feels like the heart of it,” says Rohani. It’s also home to many pieces collected over the years, including a José Zanine Caldas coffee table, one-of-a-kind ceramics, and a Mattia Bonetti side table that sits next to a 1950s Rita Valla lounge chair upholstered in shearling. A Jane Hallworth-designed Andromeda Constellation Light Installation from Blackman Cruz brings warm metallic accents, while a mixed-metal Bertoia sculpture stands next to the fireplace. The architecture is by Laidlaw Schultz , the landscape design is by Kerry Gorman, and the construction is by Tony Valentine Construction . It wasn’t an ugly duckling. But the colonial house in Laguna Beach ’s Emerald Bay neighborhood didn’t fit in either.…
