The Justice Department has accused Yale University's medical school of illegally considering race in its admissions process, marking the second such allegation against an institution this month. In a letter to Yale's legal counsel, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon stated that a departmental investigation uncovered a significantly higher admission rate for Black and Hispanic students compared to their white or Asian counterparts, despite possessing lower grade-point averages and standardized test scores. Dhillon asserted, "Yale has continued its race-based admissions program despite the Supreme Court and the public’s clear mandate for reform." She added, "This Department will continue to shed light on these illegal practices, and demand that institutions of higher education comply with federal law."
