In a May 4 social media post , Upper Pine River Fire Protection noted that a local automobile crash that is believed to have occurred on May 1 has been called “both a tragedy and a miracle” – a tragedy as two adults were killed, but a miracle as a 5-year-old child passenger was found alive roughly 30 hours after the suspected time of the crash. According to Colorado State Patrol, the crash involved a blue Chevrolet S10 traveling off the side of Highway 160 in southwest Colorado near Bayfield, rolling an unknown number of times and landing on its roof. It’s believed that the crash took place at about 6 a.m. on May 1, though the crash wasn’t discovered until the following day as the vehicle wasn’t visible from the highway.
