If your instinct is to think that the political leanings of law firm partners have an impact on how female attorneys are paid and promoted, new research confirms it. Temple University’s Brad Greenwood, a professor of management information systems, and the University of Michigan’s Seth Carnahan, a professor of strategy, looked at a broad, multi-year database of promotions within law firms. It showed that women are at a disadvantage when their bosses — especially men — donate to Republican candidates but see less gender inequality when partners give to Democrats.
