The easy answer is the original origin, but that's a bit hard if you're a younger reader because it's silver age-ish, different from MCU Tony and relies on some symbolism that's less than relevant these days (Howard Hughes, etc.). I'm tempted to say Extremis, and that's sort of the solid answer, but then you miss out on a lot of the classic M&M or O'Neil stuff that I think defines the character's uniqueness. You also miss out on the 80s, his Avengers roles, Byrne and the awesome stuff he was up to at the end of the 90s including Busiek and Grell.…
