The Maharashtra Medical Council decided to issue a show cause notice to Dr Kute, asking why action should not be taken against him. Dr Ravindra Kute (68), former president of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Maharashtra, was on Monday remanded in judicial custody in the case of a prenatal sex determination racket at Shrirampur in Ahilyanagar district. Kute, a well-known surgeon in Shrirampur, was arrested on Thursday along with 11 others in the case. Additional superintendent of police Somnath Waghchoure, who had led the police operation to bust the racket, had said their probe revealed that after illegal sex determination tests, some of the pregnant women had aborted their foetuses at Dr Kute’s hospital in Shrirampur. The Maharashtra Medical Council decided to issue a show cause notice to Dr Kute, asking why action should not be taken against him. Indian Medical Association (Maharashtra) president Dr Santosh Kulkarni has also sought a written explanation from Dr Kute.…
