Royal Caribbean orders sixth and seventh Icon class cruise ships

Two more Icon class cruise ships are set to join the Royal Caribbean fleet. The line has ordered its sixth and seventh megaships to be built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. The new vessels are due to be delivered in 2029 and 2030 respectively. This is part of a long-term deal between Royal Caribbean and Meyer Turku that provides the option to build ships until 2036. The new cruise ships will join Icon and Star of the Seas, which launched in 2024 and 2025, while Legend of the Seas is preparing to welcome its first guests this summer. A fourth Icon class ship was named last month, Hero of the Seas , and is due to join the fleet in 2027. A fifth is scheduled for 2028. There are no further details on the size of the new ships, but the current fleet sits at 250,800 gross tonnes with capacity for 5,610 guests. Passengers can expect giant waterparks on board as well as plenty of dining options and West End-style shows.…
