Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday for January 2023 has been released , and we at Akamai Security Intelligence Group set out to look at the more intriguing vulnerabilities that were patched. It seems Microsoft entered the new year with renewed vigor, as there are nearly twice the CVEs patched this month than in December. Akamai Security Intelligence Group also entered the year strongly; we disclosed two of the vulnerabilities patched this month — see a short description of them below. \r\n In this report, we’ll assess how critical the vulnerabilities really are and how commonplace the affected applications and services are, and we’ll provide a realistic perspective on the bugs that were fixed.
