I know a record has grooves etched into it because of sound, and that the needle transmits the vibrations to something that amplifies it.

But I find it difficult to fathom/visualise how a single groove and needle is able to play that sound back with all the different sounds happening.

Like an orchestra has multiple instruments and all of it can be condensed in to a single, continuous line on the vinyl?

I think I'm getting this wrong.
