Director and producer Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida and Square Enix CEO Takashi Kiryu revealed the news as part of Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest 2026 overnight, playing the game on Switch 2 during a presentation. Watch on YouTube Interestingly, though, the Switch 2 edition of the hugely popular MMORPG will be a little different, requiring its own subscription on top of the one you may be paying for PC or console. This means players on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles need to buy the game and pay a monthly subscription fee, but get cross-platform access, while Switch players only pay the monthly subscription fee but can't access their game on any other platform.…
