With the massive success of Curry Barker we have our newest comedy/sketch writer ➡️ uber successful horror writer. This is such a fascinating case study to me, and id love to know if there’s some deeper psychological reason as to why this transition between two polar opposite mediums has a high hit rate. I say this as someone who writes comedy, and, you guessed it, also loves to write horror (I’m no big shot or anything lol I just love to do it). These are the two genres that have ALWAYS enamored me, in ways that other genres can’t. So I’m inclined to believe there’s something deeper that makes these two connect. Also the other people that I know in my life who have a DEEP affinity for comedy happen to have a DEEP affinity for horror (but not typically the other way around 🤔). And by affinity I don’t mean just dabbling, I mean liking to break down the nuances of the craft. Ofc this is an unrepresentative sample, but it makes me think: what is the explanation here?…
