I'm on the west coast of the US and am asking for your opinions. Here are the relevant parameters: Material: SSAB Ramor 500 6.5mm (ballistic steel made in Sweden) Process: GMAW Welding Speed: 75mm/min using a 6-axis Fairino cobot Gas: 75% Argon, 25% CO2, heated Gas Flow Rate: 25 CFH Welding Wire: ESAB OK Autrod 16.95 (Austenitic wire conforming to AWS 307) Wire Diameter: 0.035" The voltage and current for the first pic are 180 and 30. They are 150 and 21 for the second. This is not a typical application. I have a grade 8 bolt and nut through the steel plate and am welding the nut to the bolt tip and the nut to the plate. The other side of the plate exposes the rounded head of the carriage bolt. If that head takes a bullet dead-on, the bolt can shear in half, and without the weld, the bolt shaft and nut can become a projectile.…
