Apple is no stranger to foldables in the rumor mill. But most of the chatter has focused on the iPhone Fold, which is expected to land this September. The foldable iPad is a different story, and it’s one that’s gotten a lot messier over time. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman , the foldable iPad is a real project being developed inside Apple right now. We’re talking about a roughly 20-inch display that unfolds into something like two iPad Pros placed side by side. Gurman reports the project has been a priority of John Ternus while serving as Apple’s head of hardware engineering. That’s the same John Ternus who’s set to take over as CEO on September 1 . So it’s fair to say this one has some serious internal backing. But being someone’s passion project doesn’t mean it ships. What’s Actually Blocking It Several people who worked on the foldable iPad told Gurman it could end up as a prototype that never makes it to consumers.…
