I’ve always enjoyed drop sets for max reps but I wanted to create a more challenging way to have fun competition between some of my athletes and myself. So I set out to see how much we could push each other.

The routine starts at 80% for 3x3 then the next week you do 80% 3x3 plus an additional set for Max Reps. If you can do 4-5 reps add 1% the following week for all sets and if you can do 6+ reps add 2%. The only rules; no belt until the max set and go until absolute failure, no re-racking.

I was able to get to 88% this week with reps ranging from 7-10 along the way. Most interesting is my set of best set (10) came on week 3. Unfortunately I won’t be able to see it through until I was no longer able to increase as we have to shift gears ramping up to Nationals. But nonetheless it was a lot of fun and doing 154x7 was pretty cool.
