I am working on a drilling program and I struggle to tell the difference between intermediate/felsic volcanic clastic rocks with quartz grains in them and very fine grained intrusives like dolerite.

My main criteria for now is an intrusive must have all its grained crystalized, not a matrix. But it's sometimes hard to tell with dark minerals.
