Punjab and Haryana High Court rejects ITBP constable’s plea dismissed for recruitment scam involvement

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a plea of a former Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBPF) constable , who was accused of involvement with intermediaries and illegal gratification in a recruitment drive. Justice Subhas Mehla was dealing with a plea of a constable challenging his 2002 dismissal on the grounds that it was initiated with prejudice and a violation of natural justice. “The charges clearly conveyed to the petitioner the nature of allegations against him, namely, disobedience of directions issued by a superior officer during the recruitment process and involvement in an arrangement relating to illegal gratification,” the court said on May 1. Justice Subhash Mehla heard the matter on May 1. Justice Mehla added that the charges were specific and supported by the petitioner’s own written confessional statement made during the record of evidence.…
