MSF is mobilizing teams of medical, logistical, and support staff with experience responding to previous Ebola disease outbreaks as we launch a large-scale response in DRC. Our teams are also responding to alerts of new suspected cases in surrounding areas, and have dispatched essential supplies to support people living in affected areas. Community engagement is essential to our response. Vaccination, testing, treatment units, and contact tracing only work if communities have the information they need to prevent the further spread of Ebola disease. MSF response in DR Congo The Ebola disease outbreak in DRC is taking place in northeastern provinces where decades of conflict have caused mass displacement. Many of the displaced live in camps around Goma, capital of North Kivu province, where repeated waves of displacement have complicated the identification, follow-up, and isolation of cases.
