Ex: Menuet, Fugue

I really like fugues because they have so much interest. I respect anyone who can play one by themself and I would like to compose one, one of these days.

I also really like Toccatas because of their nature, their namesake. I love the fact that they have so much lively spirit (normally), especially the one from Le Tombeau de Couperin, and the Toccata for Band (Currently practicing in my school band).

I’d like to hear your favorites of these, especially because I just want to learn more of them, and couldn’t find a good source (I love exploring new music!).

Edit: comments pointed out that “umbrella word” isn’t quite the right term. I mean, “types of common musical forms,” like waltzes and nocturnes.
