More than five years after SOPHIE’s death sent shockwaves through the music world, a previously unreleased collaboration with Big Freedia is finally set to emerge from the vault. The pair’s long-rumored collaborative EP, recorded during sessions at SOPHIE’s Los Angeles home studio in 2016, will arrive June 19, with the first track, “Blaze That Ass,” due May 22. The three-song project was largely completed in a single afternoon, pairing Big Freedia’s unmistakable New Orleans bounce energy with SOPHIE’s futuristic, shape-shifting production style.
