Published 3:30 pm Thursday, May 7, 2026 What a beautiful week it’s been in Central Oregon. It feels like summer. My gravel bike has been in the shop for the past week and out of commission for over a month after I busted up my freehub due to heavy use on rocky, root-scattered singletrack and washed out gravel and dirt roads. Maybe some poor maintenance too. But I picked it up Wednesday, and as I write this Thursday, am excited to head out this evening onto what I expect will be dusty, blown out Phil’s area trails. Local forecasts predict more of the same sunny skies and highs in the 70s well into next week. Temperatures could stay in the 60s late next week with chances of much-needed precipitation next weekend. Make the most of these lovely spring days to come.
