The struggle moves inward. It becomes a conflict over intention, a questioning of the self that stands behind the sentence. To write is already to disclose something, but to publish is to ask that disclosure to enter the public world. For some writers, this act is accompanied not by confidence but by moral unease. The question is not only whether the work is good enough. The question is whether the desire to offer the work has become entangled with the desire to be seen through it.…
