Looking to pivot into bioinformatics/computational science I recently graduated with my bachelor's in public health and will be starting a master's in immunology in the fall. Because I do intend to apply for a PhD following completing my master's program, I've been eyeing some computational immunology and bioinformatics programs lately. But because I do not have much of a computational background in my education (only took Calc 1, introductory statistics, introductory programming, and will be submitting a research paper where I extensively used R soon), I was looking into taking some asynchronous online courses to strengthen this aspect of my education and future application. Unfortunately, both community college courses and online courses are not nearly as affordable as people make it out to be. The cheapest course I found for Calc 2 has been $795 with UCSD and I will have to wait until the fall to take it (which I am okay with!).…
