I describe my intact ecosystem to any US-based AI and they classify it as magical thinking. They literally cannot recognize the earth in its optimal state. What happens when these ecologically inept systems are embedded in and advising policy and decisionmaking on all levels? How do they influence or fail to influence the course we take collectively when all their data reflects a shrinking baseline and degraded environment as normal? What happens when every person who is concerned with ecology eschews contact with these systems out of principle, ceding the arena to those who care less and can’t even recognize the bias?
