On Friday, the U.S. Space Force announced it’s giving SpaceX $4.16 billion as part of a contract to build satellites that will be part of a missile and air defense system that President Trump is calling the “Golden Dome.” The announcement follows a separate contract the Space Force awarded to Elon Musk’s company earlier this week worth $2.29 billion. That contract involves SpaceX building a communications network in low Earth orbit. The contracts reinforce a disclosure that was detailed in SpaceX’s IPO filing made public last week: The company is heavily dependent on government contracts. One-fifth of SpaceX’s revenue in 2025 came from government agencies. Musk poured around $300 million into helping elect Trump and has remained close with the president.…
