Producer Jack Douglas, who made albums for John Lennon , Aerosmith , Patti Smith and more, has died aged 80. Douglas’ family announced his death in a Facebook post on Tuesday (12 May), announcing he had died on Monday night (11 May). No cause of death was given. “He passed away peacefully on Monday night,” they wrote. “As many of you who follow him know, he produced great music, and lived a colorful life. We know that he touched many of your lives; we would love to hear more about that in the comments. He will be missed.” In response, several bands who he produced for have paid tribute to the legendary producer. On her Instagram, Patti Smith wrote: “This is expressing gratitude to Jack Douglas for all that I learned and experienced working on PSG’s Radio Ethiopia with him.
