The Bishop Gorman baseball team runs the student section at every football game at the school. The baseball players would constantly ask their teammate DaMari Hall when he would get into a football game. Hall’s opportunity came during a national showdown against Mater Dei (California) . The 6-foot-4 senior came in at wide receiver as the Gaels battled injuries at the position, and he made the most of his chance when he caught a 19-yard touchdown on the Gaels’ first drive in front of a standing-room-only crowd at Fertitta Field. “All the baseball guys were there, and we were all going crazy in the stands,” junior shortstop Justin Rodrigues said. “That’s when he got his first big opportunity (in football) … and we were all very excited for him.” The two-sport star’s leap in his performance at the plate, coupled with his already strong defense, has played a key role in getting Gorman’s baseball team back to being the top program in Southern Nevada.
