A man is in jail after the authorities say he injured a state trooper while trying to flee from law enforcement near Pueblo on Saturday afternoon.
Troopers pulled over a van on Interstate 25 after receiving a tip that the driver had been drinking, the Colorado State Patrol said in a news release.
The driver, a 32-year-old man who lives in Weston, was uncooperative and sped off during the traffic stop, knocking the trooper to the ground, the authorities said.
A second state trooper disabled the suspect’s vehicle by ramming his patrol car into the van and placed the suspect under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence, assault on a peace officer, felony eluding and other alleged crimes.
The trooper who was knocked over was taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure, according to the release.
