Maybe it’s because Lee Cronin’s The Mummy now seems destined to fade quickly from theaters and filmgoers’ memories. Or maybe it’s because Halloween is generally more monster-friendly than late spring. But Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz ‘s eagerly awaited reunion in the fourth Mummy movie will be arriving several months earlier than originally announced. Its new date is October 15, 2027. The Mummy 4 —no official title yet—had originally been slated to come out May 19, 2028; as Variety reports, that slot will now be filled by the Miami Vice ’85 team-up of Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler. The latest entry in the Mummy franchise, which kicked off in 1999 with the hit co-starring John Hannah, who’ll also return, is being directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, also known as Radio Silence. Their previous output skews a bit more splattery horror than the swashbuckling Mummy series to date, though it does have its share of “scarabs devouring live humans” and the like.…
