Shower gap, do I seal

Got one of those shower kits, I read the directions, it only says to seal with silicone where the shower touches the wall. I know you’re not supposed to seal these seams. But idk.. has anyone here seen actual issues caused by sealing these seams? I feel like if I get full coverage on all the seams with 100% silicone I wouldn’t have mold issues behind the wall because there wouldn’t be any water behind the wall? Seems like common sense to me that water can’t get in if it’s sealed off. But I know I’m not experienced with this (my first shower install) so just want to see if anyone has experience with clients/DIY where doing a good silicone job still causes issues? Someone please sanity check me
