He liked to confront people who were easily angered — pushing them to their limits. I thought he’d learned a lesson when he was taking his two dogs for a walk without leashes at a nearby college campus. A man yelled at Haji to tie up his dogs, or else the angry guy would do it himself. “You ain’t touching my dogs,” Haji responded. “They don’t need to be on a leash. They’re well trained, brother.” The two men continued yelling at each other across the field.
