The award for the coveted RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year 2026 has been announced at the Chelsea Flower Show 2026 . Hosta Red Ninja fought off fierce competition to take the top spot this year, winning the RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year competition. It's a unique red Hosta , with deep red foliage and green margins. Stunning purple flowers from late summer to early autumn. Second place went to Hydrangea paniculata Groundbreaker Ruby, while third was won by Hydrangea Velvet Night Red Lace. The RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year recognises outstanding plants with a new or improved feature, and is judged from plants bred by exhibitors in the Great Pavilion. Exhibitors submit new plants to the competition and entries are considered by a shortlisting panel of RHS and industry experts. The shortlist of 20 plants go on display in the pavilion and a winner is chosen on the Monday of the show.
