The Clark County coroner’s office identified the man killed by North Las Vegas police after a car crash last week. According to the coroner’s office, Khalil Smith, 31, died of multiple gun shot wounds, ruling his manner of death as a homicide. Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of East Gowan Road and North 5th Street just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, the North Las Vegas Police Department said in a news release that day. Responding officers received initial reports that a man, now identified as Smith, involved in the collision was “acting in a threatening manner was reported to be armed with a sharp object,” the release said. “When officers arrived, a man was on the roof of a vehicle, acting erratically,” police said. “Officers issued numerous commands in an attempt to de-escalate the situation, but the man did not comply.” Officers told Smith to drop the object and to get down from the vehicle, police said.…
