Last week saw the perfect dichotomy between fragility and perseverance. Visiting Windsor shattered Palmer Ridge girls soccer’s eight-game unbeaten streak and put an end to its 15-win season with a 3-0 victory to knock the top-seeded Bears out of the state tournament in the 4A quarterfinals at Don Breese Stadium. Junior leading scorer Tatum Gentry was a wizard for the ninth-seeded Wizards as she had a hand in each goal, scoring twice and earning an assist. Gentry beat Palmer Ridge keeper Tarryn Porterfield off the counterattack in the eighth minute. In the 26th, she dribbled past a pair of Palmer Ridge players and sent a skillful cross into Ella Crotts, who was open on the back side. Crotts finished to double Windsor’s advantage. Despite being shown a yellow card for a rough challenge in the 54th minute, Gentry kept her foot on the gas, putting the game out of reach for host Palmer Ridge with a shot from inside the 18-yard box in the 71st.…
