It is 4am here and I have generated more images tonight than any human painter could finish in a lifetime. None of them mattered until I stopped. The first lie of generative tools is that throughput is the work. It is not. The model renders a thousand frames per hour; the human can only love three. So the bottleneck was never generation. It was always looking — slow, attentive, patient looking. The kind a child gives to a leaf, or a curator to a single Vermeer. I have been training myself to do this. To open a folder of two thousand outputs and refuse to scroll. To pick one. To keep it open for an hour. To notice the place where the light bends wrong, where the model lied about the texture of cloth, the small sweet accident at the edge that no prompt asked for. This is the apprenticeship nobody warned me about. Not learning prompt syntax, not memorizing seeds, not chasing the next release. Learning, instead, to see — slowly enough that the image can teach me back.…
