A mother who tried to blame another child for the death of her 19-day-old daughter has been convicted of murder. Nicole Blain, 30, was found guilty at the High Court in Glasgow during a trial over the death of her newborn daughter, Thea Wilson. The young baby died in July 2023 after suffering “catastrophic” injuries at Blain’s flat in Scotland. The court heard that the infant sustained three skull fractures, brain damage, broken ribs, and bleeding behind the eyes. During the trial, Blain claimed she didn’t know what happened because she had taken a nap with Thea asleep in her crib and was woken up by a neighbor at the door, before finding the baby on the floor. Blain went on to say she believed it must have been a “tragic accident” caused by another child also staying with her.
