Utz Quality Foods is voluntarily recalling certain Zapp’s and Dirty brand potato chips sold nationwide after concerns they may be contaminated with Salmonella . The recall was issued after the company learned that a seasoning ingredient used on the chips, a dry milk powder from a third-party supplier, could be contaminated, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Monday. The affected products include a range of flavors and sizes, including Zapp’s Bayou Blackened Ranch, Big Cheezy and Salt and Vinegar, as well as Dirty brand Maui Onion, Salt and Vinegar and Sour Cream and Onion chips that were distributed across the country. No illnesses have been reported so far. Company officials say the seasoning tested negative before use, but the recall was issued “out of an abundance of caution” based on the ingredient supplier’s recall, the FDA said.
