1099 audio engineer—studio wants to control how I credit my work on social media. Is this normal Hello, I’m looking for some perspective on a crediting issue with a studio/label I’m working with. I studied audio engineering and recently started working as an in house engineer for a small startup label/studio in a smaller city in the U.S. I’m classified as a 1099 contractor and have only signed an NDA so far, no formal contract beyond that. I was brought on to record, mix, and master a project for one of their signed bands. I’m paid hourly/project-based, and the band is billed for my time. The work is credited to me individually on streaming platforms (mixing/mastering, and recording) and another recording engineer I worked with is credited as well. The issue is with how they want me to present credits on my own social media.…
