I have been looking at a lot of test automation tools recently, and the honest answer is: this space is crowded. Very crowded. Like “every homepage says AI, self-healing, autonomous, no-code, enterprise-ready, and 10x faster” crowded. That makes it weirdly hard to understand what is actually different. Some tools are real AI-first testing platforms. Some are code-first frameworks. Some are browser clouds. Some are visual testing tools. Some are managed QA services. Some are mostly recorders with a better landing page. And some are basically “we added a chatbot to the sidebar, please update the Gartner slide.” So I wanted to write a more practical guide.
