Once I set the goal to run my first half marathon in 2025, I wanted any and all advice about training for and racing the distance . At the suggestion of my colleagues, I signed up for the Bethlehem Running Festival half marathon, a small city race that takes place close to where I live (and Runner’s World HQ). I got plenty of tips on conquering 13.1 miles from staffers, and have access to the entire Runner’s World library, packed with troves of information on how to prepare for the distance. With all the information, I figured I was ready to handle anything that came my way on race day… But there were still surprises.
