Did a final panel at a tech mid-size startup 2 weeks ago. I've been following up with the recruiter. She told me they were wrapping interviews last week and was hoping to have an update by then. Heard nothing so followed up this week, and she says that they're "still very interested" but that the decision is taking longer than anticipated. What does this mean? That I'm a back up? Why say they're "very interested" if they're actually just trying to hire someone else?
