Every once in a while, a book comes along that speaks to your soul. That Which Feeds Us was that book for me. On the fictional Hawaiian island of Kōpaʻa, Lehua searches for her missing twin at a luxury wellness resort and unearths deeper mysteries and horrors at every turn. Steeped in Native Hawaiian legend, history, and culture, it's an unapologetically anti-colonial examination of the true cost of paradise, and as a Pacific Islander myself, I can honestly say it's the book I've waited my whole life for. To dive deeper into the story, I spoke to author Keala Kandall, who you might know as the writer of the Moana and upcoming Lilo & Stitch books in Disney's YA Twisted Tales series, or as a co-founder of Pacific Islanders in Publishing .
