Washington state is home to four main temperate rainforests: Hoh, Quinault, Queets and Bogachiel. All four are located on the Olympic Peninsula, although rainforest ecosystems exist elsewhere across Washington, including the slopes of the western Cascades. Many visitors gravitate toward a few well-known rainforest hikes, such as the Hoh’s Hall of Mosses, but there are dozens of quieter, underrated trails winding through lush, wild terrain. There is a good chance you will get rained on during your hike — the annual rainfall can reach up to 14 feet per year.
