Local musicians are joining forces in support of a good cause in "Ziggy’s Glam Rock Extravaganza", to be staged this Friday night, from 7.30pm, at the Mayfair Theatre. Presented by Dr Glam (Dr Ian Chapman) and the Oxo Cubans, the spectacular tribute to the glam rock era will also feature singers Arlie McCormick and Steve Larkins, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of NZ (Otago). Putting together Ziggy’s Glam Rock Extravaganza, in support of a cause close to his heart, inspired Dr Chapman to bring back his Dr Glam performance persona for one last outing. Having created Dr Glam as a performance teaching tool for his rock performance students at the University of Otago, Dr Chapman retired the character 10 years ago following the David Bowie tribute show at Sammy’s. In the early 2020s, Dr Chapman went through the mill health-wise due to a brush with prostate cancer, and is now thankful to be back to 100% health. His father died of prostate cancer many years ago.…
