I want to share an interesting observation from my live trading results (2+ years) compared to the very long backtest. (17+ years) My MT5 EA has only experienced one major exponential growth phase in live trading so far. On the surface, that may not sound especially significant. A single doubling event could easily be dismissed as luck. What I find interesting is something else. Before opening a live account , I had historical simulations covering 2008-present. Throughout those simulations, the system repeatedly displayed a very specific equity curve structure. Long periods of relatively slow progress, followed by occasional explosion phases. These exploding phases typically appeared every 1-2 years and they could last anywhere from a few days to a few months.
