Josh D’Amaro didn’t waste time. Barely settled into Disney’s CEO chair after succeeding Bob Iger in February, he greenlit cuts that sliced 1,000 positions across the entertainment empire. The layoffs hit hard this week, targeting marketing—freshly reorganized in January—along with studios, television operations, ESPN, products and technology, and corporate functions.
