Our early artwork is praised as if it belongs in a museum, and our first attempts at performing are treated like professional shows. We’re wrapped up in this idea of being exceptional, and it’s comforting. It feels safe. But here’s the truth, also the most freeing one, that we need to face if we want a good life: you’re not all that special. And I say this with kindness, because it’s really good news.
